Amman, Sept 15 (Petra) – Members of the Senate said His Majesty King Abdullah II’s address to the Emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha on Monday underscored the importance of joint Arab-Islamic action.

They told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the King placed leaders of the Arab and Islamic nations before a historic responsibility, calling for a review of collective mechanisms to confront the repercussions of policies by Israel’s far-right government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu.

They noted that the King’s speech included a clear, firm, and strong royal demand that the response be decisive, deterrent, and based on practical decisions rather than rhetoric, to confront the threat posed by Israel’s extremist government.

Assistant to the President of the Senate Zuhair Abu Faris said the King’s speech was historic, clear, powerful, and decisive, noting the call to review all Arab-Islamic joint action tools to confront the threat of the extremist Israeli government.

Abu Faris added that the King was firm, direct, and strong in urging the summit to issue decisions that are clear, decisive, and deterrent with practical measures, beyond rhetoric, to address the extremist Israeli government’s continuous regional domination and brutal aggressive practices against the Palestinian people, including killings, destruction, and the starvation of innocent people in Gaza.

He noted that Israel’s unlawful measures in the West Bank aim to undermine prospects for a just peace and a two-state solution and threaten the security and stability of Lebanon, Syria, and the wider region, following its aggression against the sister state of Qatar. The King’s speech highlighted Israel’s escalation due to international silence and impunity.

Abu Faris said the King was firm in calling on the summit to take practical decisions to stop the war in Gaza, prevent the displacement of the Palestinian people, protect Jerusalem and its holy sites, and safeguard shared Arab-Islamic security.

He explained that, following Israel’s brutal attack on Qatar a mediator in halting the war on Gaza the conflict has taken on dangerous dimensions across the region, and emphasized that the King stated Qatar’s security is part of Jordan’s security, affirming Jordan’s full support for Qatar regarding its security, stability, and citizen protection.

The King called on the summit, given Israel’s aggressive approach that has exceeded all limits and international law, to adopt genuine measures capable of deterring Israeli aggression and preserving shared Arab-Islamic security.

Senator Hayel Obeidat said the King placed leaders of the Arab and Islamic nations before a historic responsibility, calling for a review of collective mechanisms to confront the repercussions of policies by Israel’s far-right government, led by Netanyahu.

He noted that this royal call was renewed especially after the brutal attack on Qatar, continued genocide and starvation policies, and Israel’s expansionist settlement practices against the Palestinian people in Gaza, along with its ongoing seizure of Palestinian lands and violations of religious sites, attacking Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine under dubious pretexts.

Obeidat highlighted that the King reminded them of Israel’s repeated violations against Lebanon and Syria, which pose a direct threat to neighboring countries and Arab national security.

He stressed that Jordan continues its diplomatic activity, led by the King for a long time, to inform decision-makers worldwide about the situation in the region and the challenges facing its peoples under the practices of the occupation and far-right Israeli government.

Obeidat added that the King, through his foreign visits and meetings in the U.S., Britain, and Europe with various decision-makers, and in his recent European Parliament speech, directly and boldly conveyed the impacts and challenges of the ongoing war on Gaza and Israel’s Judaization policies in Palestine.

He noted that the King’s stance on the brutal attack on Qatar conveys a message that Jordan will not abandon its ongoing Arab role and mission to secure a safer and better future for Arab and Islamic nations.

Obeidat highlighted that the King identified key aspects of the situation and the dangers of the extremist Israeli government’s policies and called for decisive recommendations and unprecedented responses beyond political courtesies.

Senator Ammar Al-Qudah said the King’s speech continued his consistent stances across Arab and international forums during a critical moment for the Palestinian cause and the region, noting that the speech reflects his steady and balanced position as one of the prominent Arab leaders known for his diplomacy and moderation.

Al-Qudah added that the King held Israel legally and morally accountable, affirming that Israel violated international law and all humanitarian values, providing official documentation from key Arab leadership, and contributing to a stronger international position against Israeli violations.

He noted that the King did not stop at denunciation but called for practical and collective action to stop the aggression against Gaza, prevent the displacement of Palestinians, and protect Jerusalem, highlighting Jordan’s role as a driving force for joint Arab action.

Al-Qudah noted that the King clearly pointed out that Israeli attacks are not limited to Palestine but affect other countries, reflecting Jordan’s commitment to comprehensive Arab national security.

He affirmed that the King plays a central role in pursuing peace as an important voice in defending the Palestinian cause, believing this is the only path to end the conflict and achieve a just and lasting peace, stressing his absolute commitment to supporting the sovereignty of Arab states and their right to repel any threats to their security and stability.
